If you use a Mac for work and graphic intensive stuff, get these new ones, whichever you choose, you will not be disappointed. Although it probably will not be any faster for my current workflow, it should last longer than the Pro, plus, I've been wanting to start getting back into video editing and the Max seems like the machine to get me there. That being said, I think I've decided to send it back and get the M1 Max. I can't believe how fast this thing is, finally, a machine that can keep up with what I'm trying to do. Opened a few files in photoshop, again, no waiting. Some of the features like Adobe Bridge in Illustrator menus, DXF and DWG file format support, and legacy third-party (Intel-only) plugins, are not available in the native mode. You can expect an increase in speed and performance thanks to the update. Illustrator now runs natively on Apple computers using the Apple silicon M1 chip with 1.5X the speed of similarly configured previous generation systems. None of that "Preparing" stuff has been happening, it just starts saving. Like InDesign, Illustrator is now M1 native. Even with file saves, I used to get a "Preparing to save" and then it would save the file in the background. Everything that I try to do in Illustrator is instantaneous. I think I saw a spinning beach ball very briefly one time. Coming back to post my observations: Been working with the new M1 Pro with 16GB RAM this morning and I can't believe it.
